Eravant Receives Patent for Revolutionary
Uni-Guide™ Waveguide Connector:
US Patent No. 11,804,681

Sage Millimeter Inc., dba Eravant, announces the issuance of US Patent No. 11,804,681.This patent relates to a novel series of electrical connectors used in the rapidly growing field of millimeter-wave electronics. Because of their lower attenuation and higher power-handling capabilities, waveguides are often used instead of coaxial cables to transport millimeter-wave signals ranging from 30 to 300 GHz. However, waveguide interfaces are typically much more complicated and more costly to produce. Branded as Uni-Guide™ waveguide connectors, the newly patented devices are compatible with existing coaxial interfaces. They greatly reduce the effort and cost of providing waveguide signal ports on hermetically sealed components. By using Uni-Guide™ waveguide connectors, component manufacturers can offer a wide range of waveguide sizes and orientations using a reduced number of package designs. As drop-in replacements for existing industry-standard coaxial connectors, they are field-replaceable and field-configurable. When customers require a specific waveguide size and orientation on an electronic component, Uni-Guide™ waveguide connectors reduce or eliminate the need for non-recurring engineering and its associated costs and delays. By reducing the size and complexity of their package design libraries, component manufacturers can slash their inventory costs while streamlining their manufacturing operations. The result is greater customer value and faster delivery times in a market characterized by high levels of customization. Ultimately, Uni-Guide™ waveguide connectors enable Eravant and other millimeter-wave electronics manufacturers to respond faster and more favorably to customer inquiries and orders.

"Our Uni-Guide™ combines the superior performance of waveguides with the ease of coaxial interfaces. By reducing the complexity and cost associated with waveguide ports, Eravant is empowering component manufacturers to offer a diverse range of waveguide sizes and orientations without compromising on design or increasing overheads.

Eravant's commitment to advancing millimeter wave technology is not just about innovation; it's about delivering greater customer value and making millimeter wave accessible."

EXECUTIVE INTERVIEW WITH WENDY SHU, President & CEO OF Eravant

Leading the company into a new era as Eravant

You're changing the name from SAGE Millimeter to Eravant. What led to the change, and what is the messaging behind Eravant?

We put months of thought into the name Eravant, and in its purest form, becoming Eravant is about looking forward to who we want to be. It is about defining the type of team we want to be: customer-centric, results-driven and constantly striving. It is our renewed promise to our customers that we won’t stop investing in our company and making room for great people.

SAGE is an acronym for the surnames of our founders (Shu and Gu Electronics), but we think it’s time to be more inclusive of anyone who wants to be part of our journey. Instead of keeping the acronym, we decided to honor our founders in a different way. Eravant is a portmanteau of “era” and “savant.” Yonghui and Xiaoxin’s first company was named WiseWave and their second was SAGE Millimeter. All three brands capture their reverence for knowledge seekers and knowledge sharers.

EXECUTIVE INTERVIEW WITH YONGHUI SHU, PRESIDENT OF SAGE MILLIMETER

Yonghui Shu, the president of SAGE Millimeter, Inc, recently gave an interview to Microwave Journal, the leading source for information about RF and Microwave technology, design techniques, news, events and educational information. Mr. Yonghui Shu talks about his motivations for founding SAGE Millimeter and his current view of the marketplace. Here is a snippet from the interview:

How is the market different today, compared to when SAGE Millimeter was formed? Did you expect such a dramatic transformation driven by society’s demand for bandwidth?

The industry has changed tremendously in the six years that SAGE has been in business. Millimeter wave technology has finally found its way from traditional clients and applications in aerospace, military and academic/research institutions to the commercial — and even consumer — world. Leading the change is the race to 5G, which has easily garnered the most clout, speculation and attention. Yet, we would be remiss not to mention that many of the most exciting technologies currently being developed, like last mile networks, automotive driver assistance systems, WiGig, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and the Internet of Things (IoT) have also contributed to this shift.
