Calibration & Measurement Services

Eravant recognizes that many customers need occasional testing and calibration of certain components and sub-systems in high frequency bands covering 50 to 330 GHz for various applications. Historically, customers would have had to develop, purchase, or rent expensive, dedicated test setups. Now, Eravant is pleased to offer the following test and calibration services to the industry as a cost-effective solution to this problem.

Antenna Pattern Measurement

Eravant offers a range of standard antenna measurement services including gain, 2D, and 3D patterns. Frequency step size, operating bandwidth, and polarization settings can be specified by request. State-of-the-art facilities include far-field anechoic chambers and an Eravant developed open bed compact antenna range that can cover a combined frequency range from 0.7 GHz to 330 GHz. The open bed compact antenna range is also available for purchase as a complete, standalone test system.

CVAC Component Testing

Eravant offers cryogenic component test services using a custom built cryogenic test chamber. The chamber features a two-stage GM type cryo-cooler that provides around 1 Watt of cooling power at 4.2K and a compact turbo pumping system with an integrated dry scroll roughing pump and turbomolecular high vacuum pump that can reach pressures up to 10^-8 torr. The test chamber is configured with standard KF access ports for the customer to add instrumentation, power, RF, and other vacuum feedthroughs. The OFHC cold plate is directly connected to the 2nd stage of the cryocooler and is surrounded on all sides by a mirror-finish polished radiation shield that is connected to the 1st stage of the cryocooler. The chamber is equipped with cryogenic silicon diode sensors for temperature measurements and a vacuum pressure transducer for vacuum measurements.

Testing Service Features

  • Cryogenic Chamber with temperature testing capability down to 4K @ 1 Watt
  • KF-50, KF-40, KF-25, and KF-16 access ports available for customer use.
  • Temperature and Pressure Measurement Recording and Logging.
  • Test Equipment and components for up to 110 GHz testing available for customer use.
  • 7.5” x 7.5” x 7.5” available internal enclosure space for DUT.

LN2 Noise Source Calibration

Eravant waveguide noise sources are calibrated in-house using a cold reference termination that is cooled with liquid nitrogen. A room-temperature or “hot” reference termination is also used. The effective noise temperatures of these terminations are regulated and measured to within a fraction of a degree. As a result, noise source calibrations are based on accurate and reliable references. Eravant offers calibration services for waveguide-banded noise sources up to 220 GHz and recommends repeating calibrations annually.

Unparalled Flat ENR

Eravant’s STZ series of noise sources provides users with many choices to meet their Test & Measurement needs in the frequency range of 0.1 to 220 GHz. The coax connector interfaced models cover the frequency range as wide as 0.1 to 67 GHz and waveguide interfaced models are for full waveguide band operation with Excess Noise Ratios (ENR) in the range of 12 to 20 dB. All models include either a Faraday isolator or an internal attenuator to minimize output impedance variations and achieve a flat ENR over frequency. Typical ENR flatness is ±2 dB over the entire operating bandwidth.

Thermal Vacuum Testing

Eravant offers thermal vacuum test services. The thermal vacuum chamber can simulate the extreme temperature ranges and vacuum conditions required for space-qualified component testing.

The chamber is configured with standard KF access ports for the customer to add instrumentation, power, RF, or other kinds of vacuum feedthroughs needed for the testing. Eravant can also provide a variety of in-house RF test equipment and components covering a combined frequency range from DC to 110 GHz for customer selection and use with the thermal vacuum test chamber at additional charge.
